Black Experiences Grant Program
The current 2024 round of The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership Black Experiences Grant Program has concluded.
The next round will be held in 2025.
The Road Ahead created The Black Experiences Grant Program with support from American Express. It is part of the Road Ahead’s plans to celebrate the 2026 Centennial of Route 66 by helping the millions of people who live, work, and travel along Route 66 – through projects focused on promotion, preservation, research/education, and the economic development of Route 66.
The Black Experiences Grant Program is designed to:
Retain and sustain Black owned/operated businesses and attractions along Route 66 that have experienced economic hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fund research that documents untold/under-told Black stories of hardship, racism, and success along Route 66.
Support research regarding, and the preservation of, Green Book sites along Route 66.
Grant Details:
Awards of up to $5,000 will be made to qualified projects.
Up to 10 Grant Awards will be made in each of the following years: 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026.
